Hazardous Substances (Diazinon-Containing Substances Direction Prohibiting Use and Controlling Storage and Disposal) Notice 2023
Pursuant to section 66 of the Hazardous Substances and New Organisms Act 1996 (“Act”), the Environmental Protection Authority issues the following notice.
This notice is the Hazardous Substances (Diazinon-Containing Substances Direction Prohibiting Use and Controlling Storage and Disposal) Notice 2023.
This notice comes into force on 1 August 2023.
Substance containing diazinon means any of the following substances:
Emulsion (oil in water) containing 500 - 600g/litre diazinon approved under the Act until 1 July 2028 with approval number HSR000180;
Emulsifiable concentrate containing 800g/litre diazinon (Substance C) approved under the Act until 1 July 2028 with approval number HSR000183;
Emulsifiable concentrate containing 800g/litre diazinon (Substance B) approved under the Act until 1 July 2028 with approval number HSR000181;
Diazinon 800 EC NF approved under the Act until 1 July 2028 with approval number HSR100760;
Emulsifiable concentrate containing 200g/litre diazinon approved under the Act until 1 July 2028 with approval number HSR000178;
Granular material containing 50 - 54g/kg diazinon approved under the Act until 1 July 2028 with approval number HSR000176;
Emulsion (oil in water) containing 600g/litre diazinon approved under the Act until 1 July 2028 with approval number HSR007700;
Dianex approved under the Act until 1 July 2028 with approval number HSR101016;
Emulsifiable concentrate containing 800g/litre diazinon (Substance A) approved under the Act until 1 July 2028 with approval number HSR000174.
Emulsifiable concentrate containing 500g/litre diazinon and 25g/litre permethrin approved under the Act until 1 July 2028 with approval number HSR000179;
Wettable powder containing 500g/kg of diazinon approved under the Act until 1 July 2028 with approval number HSR000177;
Diazamax 800 approved under the Act until 1 July 2028 with approval number HSR002481;
Emulsifiable concentrate containing 600g/litre diazinon approved under the Act until 1 July 2028 with approval number HSR000184;
DIAZEC 800 approved under the Act until 1 July 2028 with approval number HSR100878;
Granular material containing 200g/kg diazinon approved under the Act until 1 July 2028 with approval number HSR000175;
Emulsifiable concentrate containing 95g/litre diazinon approved under the Act until 1 July 2028 with approval number HSR000182
No person may use a substance containing diazinon after 1 July 2028.
For avoidance of doubt, the controls set out for the approvals for the substances containing diazinon remain in effect until 1 July 2028.
